My work as a Positive Journal® facilitator combines my training as a certified Mindfulness Meditation teacher with the science of Positive Psychology.
I believe the foundation of wellness begins within. A positive journaling practice leads us to the discovery of how strong and capable we truly are.
Ever since I can remember, I have written things down. My childhood diary, pen pal letters, and teenage poetry (sigh) led to my new mom pregnancy journal, emails to college kids, and eventually my work as an author and freelance writer. I have made sense of my life by putting words on a page.
I love sharing the Positive Journal Method because I’ve seen it work in my life and in the lives of my students. Seeing journaling practice through the lens of positive emotions such as gratitude, curiosity, and joy doesn’t gloss over life’s daily challenges; it helps us build the resilience to face them by reminding us of our resources. Making the choice to reflect on moments of positivity opens us to creative solutions, new perspectives, and flexible thinking. Simply put, it’s makes you feel good.
Lately, my classes take place a small botanical garden in Southern California. Students soak in the serenity of this quaint, little natural oasis where life is in bloom everywhere. They stroll through the gardens and are reminded of the simplicity and beauty that is reflected in the natural world. Then they sit for a bit, open their journals, and write. What better place to plant seeds of positivity than in a garden!
